Bill Fountain Historical Presentation: Parkville, Spencerville and The Great Flume
Meet local historian and researcher, Bill Fountain, and hear about the towns of Parkville, Summit County’s first seat of government and a bustling mining hub in the 1860s and Spencerville, an unplatted town and important hub for the community’s miners.
Following this presentation, join us on July 16 for hike to the historical flume, the massive water infrastructure built to channel water down the mountains for hydraulic gold mining.
This talk featured information from Bill Fountain and Dr. Sandra Mather’s book, Historic Landscapes: Parkville and Spencerville.
Books from his Historical Landscapes series and other titles will be available at the event and on our website.
