MANAGING DIRECTOR

POSITION TITLE: MANAGING DIRECTOR
Position Overview:
The Managing Director is a year-round position. Will consider full-time and part-time applicants.
The Managing Director performs a variety of management and fundraising duties in support of the SHS vision, mission, values and strategic plan. The Managing Director oversees museum staff, contract labor, vendors, and volunteers, as well as acts as a liaison with the Board of Directors, museum members, visitors and the community. This position is actively engaged in establishing and maintaining revenue sources, researches and completes applications for local, state, and national grants, and works to increase memberships and donations. The Director oversees the preservation and management of Summit Historical Society’s historic facilities, maps, photographs, and artifacts, as well as promotes and facilitates community education, engagement, exhibits, activities and special events. The Director will be the leader of Summit Historical Society, an integral part of the community, and help take the organization to new levels.

POSITION TITLE: COLLECTIONS MANAGER
The Collections Manager oversees the care, preservation, documentation, and accessibility of the museum’s collections. Responsibilities include collections management, acquisitions and deaccessions, loans, exhibitions, research access, policy development, object handling, and risk management.

POSITION TITLE: EDUCATION AND PROGRAMS COORDINATOR
Position Overview:
The Education and Programs Coordinator (“Coordinator”) will create new and maintain existing educational and other programs and events including planning, reservations, and execution; coordinate volunteer sign-up and broadcasting volunteer communications; support brand and program development through social media and website content and provide customer service in person, via telephone, and online. The Coordinator may be called upon to periodically serve as a docent (museum guide) and to assist with light duty tasks around the campus, including securing campus buildings. This is a part-time, on-site, and independent contractor position.
