Historical Hikes Series: Bill Fountain Historical tour and “The Great Flume” – If you have are having any issues with online ticket ordering, please call 970-468-2207.

Join us for a hike led by author Bill Fountain, where participants will explore The Great Flume, the massive water infrastructure built to channel water down the mountain for hydraulic gold mining.

This tour will require high clearance 4WD and a driver experienced in dealing with ruts and rocks. However, we will be carpooling so not all attendee’s will be using their vehicles.

This hike follows up on Fountain’s July 15 historical presentation featuring Bill Fountain and Dr. Sandra Mather’s book, Historic Landscapes: Parkville and Spencerville.

Date: Thursday, July 16, 2026

Time: 8:45 am – 2:30 pm

Location: Meet at Tiger Dredge/Horseshoe Gulch Parking Lot, 2436-2816 Tiger Rd., Breckenridge

Cost: Registration required, $25.00 per person

Bring hiking gear, poles, water, snacks and sunscreen.
