Join local historian Bill Fountain for a fascinating presentation on Swandyke, one of Summit County’s forgotten mining communities and ghost towns. As part of Bill and Dr. Sandra Mather’s Historical Landscapes: Summit County Colorado Ghost Towns and Townsites series, this program will explore the rich history, colorful characters, and remnants of Swandyke’s mining past.

Whether you’re a history enthusiast, hiker, or simply curious about Colorado’s hidden stories, this is a unique opportunity to step back in time and discover a place many people have never heard of.

A follow-up historical hike to the Swandyke townsite will take place tomorrow, August 13, 2026, giving attendees the chance to experience the landscape and history firsthand.
