A classroom program developed for the 4th grade by HistoryColorado, our state historical society, and redesigned for virtual use by Summit Historical Society. The virtual Moving Day program is made up of 8 digital videos, focusing on six groups of people that lived in Colorado. Each section explores the culture, traditions, and tools of different groups through artifacts and activities.
This program is designed for the 4th grade class and is not available to the public at this time.
Originally created as an educational program for the Summit Association of Realtors, this class is an overview of Summit County’s rich history. It looks at the formation of Summit County, the people who have migrated into the county, many towns both past and present, as well as neighborhoods – then and now. This is a two-hour program designed for adults.
Life in Summit County: Then and Now
This program is designed for the 3rd grade, meeting the Colorado Education Standards for local history. It takes the student back to the first groups of people that came through Summit County, and the groups of people that influenced the county since. This program will be available virtually in 2021.
Lost Towns of Summit County:
It is a one-hour program on the towns that no longer exist in the county and what became of them.
