Meet and Greet – The Old Swede and the Ghost of Gore Canyon
Henry Recen (the Old Swede) is commonly credited with building the first cabin in Frisco and his wife Katie was the first white woman in the area. Did you know that he had two brothers Andrew and Daniel? They are not mentioned in the Frisco “first cabin and founder” narrative. The story of the Recen brothers starts in Sweden, winds its way through the Kansas prairie, Central City, Idaho Springs and culminates in the Ten Mile Canyon Mining District. Join Jean Adams as she expands on the story of Henry and his brothers involving a town that burns, a post office name, a lost silver mine, an invention, and a laughing ghost.
