SUMMARY:How to Register Properties with the Colorado State Register of Historic Properties
DESCRIPTION:Hosted by History Colorado and Summit Historical Society \nLearn about Colorado’s official historic property designation – what it is\, how to apply\, and why it matters. Get answers to your questions on eligibility\, deadlines\, criteria\, and benefits. \nFeaturing Speakers: \n\nDamian Pechota – National and State Register Historian \nLaurel Schlegel – Grant Engagement Specialist\, History Colorado\n\nColorado 150 celebrations begin on August 1\, 2025. This is a great way to learn how to register your property on Colorado Register of Historic Properties. \n\nDate: Monday\, July 28\nTime: 10:00 AM – 12:30 PM\nLocation:  Old Dillon Schoolhouse\, 403 E. LaBonte\, Dillon\nCost: Event is free\, but registration is required.  Limited to 30 guests.\n\n  \nThe Colorado State Register of Historic Properties is a listing of the state’s significant cultural resources worthy of preservation for the future education and enjoyment of Colorado’s residents and visitors. Properties listed in the Colorado State Register include individual buildings\, structures\, objects\, districts\, and historic and archaeological sites. The Register program is administered by the Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation within History Colorado. History Colorado maintains an official list of all properties included in the Colorado State Register.  To be considered\, certain criteria must be met to establish the property’s historical significance and eligibility for inclusion. After a nomination is completed\, it is reviewed by the Colorado State Register Review Board\, composed of citizen members and professionals from the disciplines of prehistoric and historic archaeology\, history\, architecture\, and architectural history. \nThis designation is a formal recognition of a property’s importance to the history of the community and the state of Colorado. The designation promotes a sense of community history and local pride. Additionally\, these structures are now eligible to compete for grants from Colorado’s State Historical Fund. \n\n\n	Related
