SUMMARY:Historic Hike: Summit County Ethnobotany with Mark Rubash
DESCRIPTION:This hike will focus on plants of the area and how they were used by those who came before us. We will look at (smell\, feel and taste as well!) plant species and their uses as food and medicine; in addition\, many plants were used for utilitarian purposes and some had special spiritual significance. The main focus is on the Indigenous peoples of past centuries\, but Europeans also found some special uses. \n\nDate: Monday\, July 7\, 2025\nTime: 9:00 AM -12:00 PM\nTickets: $25 for SHS & Blue River Watershed Group Members | $35 for non-members\nLocation: Meet at the Acorn Creek Trail Parking lot (see directions below).\nReserve by July 5\, 6:00 PM; Space is limited to 15 guests.\n\n  \nExtra Details:  \n\nThis will be an easy/moderate hike of about 3-4 miles with some elevation gain (1000 foot maximum).\nWear proper hiking footwear and bring layered clothing. Bring your own water and snacks\, along with insect repellent and sun protectant.\n\n  \nDirections to Acorn Creek Trailhead: From I-70\, take Exit 205 Silverthorne/Dillon\, and travel north on HWY 9 for approximately 10.6 miles.
