SUMMARY:Historic Hike: The Bristlecone Pine Grove at Windy Ridge – The True Millennials
DESCRIPTION:Have you ever seen a 1000-year-old tree?  Join Ken Torrington to learn about and walk through a grove of these resilient and amazing living structures.  In addition to walking 1-2 miles across the Windy Ridge tundra\, we will visit parts of the grove protected from winter’s 100 mph winds.  Along the way\, we will stop briefly at the nineteenth century Paris (Stamp) Mill to learn about Park County’s rich mining history. \n\nDate:  Monday\, August 4\, 2025\nTime: 9:00 AM – 1/2 day driving/walking tour\nTickets: $25 for SHS & Blue River Watershed Group Members | $35 for Non-Members\nLocation: Meet at the parking lot on the west side of the Hoosier Pass Summit\, located 11 miles south of Breckenridge on Colorado Highway 9.  Guests lacking off-road vehicles will park their vehicles and join other guests for the 45 minute drive to Windy Ridge.\nReservations required by August 2\, 6:00 PM\n\nExtra Details:  \n\n Wear comfortable shoes and bring layered clothing. \nBring your own water\, lunch\, and camp chair.  \nOff-road\, 4-Wheel Drive vehicles are available.  \nThe road is poorly maintained with many large potholes and rocks.  \nRestroom facilities not available.\n\n  \nTo become a member click here! \n  \nPhoto:  Windy Ridge Bristlecone Pine Scenic area.  Courtesy: colorado.com
