George Floyd’s tragic death ignited a national discussion on race relations.  In crisis situations, Americans normally look to political leaders for direction, words of comfort, and solutions. Often overlooked are the words and deeds of a powerful group on non-elected public figures – first ladies – to confront controversy.  Join First Ladies’ Scholar, author and retired Director of the Presidential Materials Division of the National Archives, Nancy Kegan Smith, to hear about the three First Ladies, Eleanor Roosevelt, Lady Bird Johnson and Michelle Obama who risked their lives to advance civil rights.
