On March 11 the Summit Historical Society will celebrate Women’s History Month with an Afternoon with Christy Rost. Ms. Rost is a public television chef and host. She authored three cookbooks, is a home restoration expert, a Registered Nurse, and popular guest chef for food and wine festivals, home shows and women’s expo’s.
Based in Texas and passionately dedicated to the celebration of Home and Family, Ms. Rost’s focus on sustainability, farm to plate, cooking with local ingredients, and food and wine pairings is heavily influenced by the months she lives and works in her recently-restored 1898 Breckenridge, CO historic mountain home, the Ben Stanley Revett Mansion now called Swan’s Nest.
Ms. Rost and her husband, Randy, received the Breckenridge Heritage Alliance’s Theobald Award for historic preservation and advocacy for their outstanding remodel and preservation this past November.
Join us for her presentation titled, "Tales From The Kitchen: Recapturing The Golden Years of Swan's Nest." Ms. Rost will present at the Dillon Community Church. Doors open at 1:30 pm and her presentation begins at 2 pm. The program will include a short cooking demonstration, highlights of her restoration of Swan's Nest, including the longstanding tradition of hospitality established by Ben Stanley Revett and continued throughout her home project. She will also have cookbooks to sign and share.
Enjoy delicacies from the Dusty Rose Tea Room of Georgetown to finish off the lovely afternoon.
Next summer’s schedule will feature some new hikes, events especially for children in the Schoolhouse Museum, the very successful Pastry and the Past series, our historic boat rides on Lake Dillon, the ice cream social, tours of the schoolhouse museum—and a very special event, Suds at the Summit early in July.
