The Summit Historical Society (SHS) was incorporated on October 25, 1966. It operates as a private, nonprofit, member-based, tax-exempt State of Colorado 501(c) (3) corporation. As such, contributions are tax-deductible because of section 170 IRS Code.
The Society’s vision is exploring the past to better understand the present and positively influence the future. We make our projects highly visible for direct public benefit. As a result, the Society provides a showcase for the protection and improvement of historical sits and artifacts that tell the stories of Summit County, Colorado’s people, places, and things. Many of these activities are rare educational and recreational opportunities.
